HIRAETH (prod. JUNI Chill Future Mix)

What makes Future Beats so unique and heart-hitting? Is it the detuned synths and the synced waves? Or is it the eclectic drops that trip you into a dreamy range of emotions? With a mix of trap, garage, 90’s R&B, and iconic video game soundscapes, this is the music of our era. HIRAETH focuses on what’s considered Chill Wave, with a spice of jazz ambiance. Each track influenced my artistic journey and captures times to which we cannot return. What makes Future beautiful is the undefined uncertainty of it all - the sounds are so vast that they cannot be contained in one genre.

I first encountered Trap in 2013 when 17-year-old producer HU₵₵I dropped his first EP, NOVACANE, on Soundcloud. I was immediately hooked by the haunting hypnotic sounds and started producing my own tracks. These were the emerging producers who could produce an entire album in their so-called bedroom studios. After the sounds were incorporated into commercial Trap Music, artists furthered their sounds and directions through emerging micro-genres like Future House and Future Bass.

While many artists are represented by the Artist Intelligence Agency (AIA) and artist collectives like Hegemon and Pantheon, many artists are still under the radar. The unique stylization has also become associated with an array of international artists like Cashmere Cat, Flume, ODESZA, and Wave Racer—just to name a few.

Future is a movement, and it continues to evolve. As the name implies, it will continue to inspire our music’s direction for years to come.
