What if I told you there is a world out there beyond the radio’s greatest hits, beyond Spotify’s most played songs by an artist, and beyond the normal sphere of knowledge you’ve cultivated for your favorite bands? We’ve dug deep and found these hidden gems by artists you’ve already come to know and love.

1. “The Goldrush” by Coldplay

After the release of the incredibly successful Viva la Vida, Coldplay subsequently leaked a few singles that didn’t make the cut for the initial album. This song goes even further than that and is the B-SIDE for one of those post-release singles. Enjoy a stripped and cavalier tune with an undeniably infectious chorus.

2. “Revelry” by Kings of Leon

Only By Night is largely considered to be Kings of Leon’s breakout album, with classic hits such as “Sex is on Fire” and “Use Somebody”, but it wasn’t until this album was playing over the speakers at a Denny’s in Florida that I appreciated the full breadth of tunes on this beautiful album. Revelry has an awesome drum beat and atmospherically progressive vibe.

3. “Genevieve” by Lucius

This power-duo first rose to prominence from their Tiny Desk concert in 2013. At that time, they were promoting their first EP, and have since exploded. This energetic indie anthem not only demonstrates their vocal prowess but is also from that debut release that seems to have been sadly forgotten.

4. “Stella Blue” by Local Natives

Released as part of a collaborative album in celebration of The Grateful Dead, it’s easy to see how this single could have been passed over. Don’t be fooled, this creative reimagining of the Grateful Dead’s classic still maintains that distinct Local Natives feel we’ve come to know and love.

5. “Anonanimal” by Andrew Bird

It’s rare that Andrew Bird even touches his album Noble Beast unless he’s headlining. Even then, this song is usually forgotten in favor of more prominent songs from the record. The tune’s eccentricities lead the listener to many strange places and contain all of the whistling, violin-playing hallmarks of an Andrew Bird classic.

6. “March to the Sea” by Twenty One Pilots

It is truly incredibly to see how far Twenty One Pilot’s has blown off the charts. It’s hard to listen to the radio these days without hearing one of their singles, but the truth is that they’ve been around since 2009. This viby ballad from their debut album is clean, powerful, and resonant. Give the rest of this album a listen if you have time, it’s worth it.

7. “Chains” by Radical Face

This tune is from the second of three albums detailing the family history of Ben Cooper, the man behind Radical Face. While his cornerstone, and most successful, album garner a lot of attention, this is one of those songs with a perfectly complex beat that works on every level. Get sucked in by the beat and stay for a delightful tune with thoughtful lyrics
