New Music from Smallpools, Jack Johnson, and More

This Friday we have a smattering of new releases across the spectrum, from jams to prove summer isn’t over yet, to a calming change of pace from a traditionally rousing artist. Here are some noticeable new releases you should give a listen this week.

1. “DJs and Porsches” by Smallpools

Smallpools has always been known to produce clean indie-pop for those who want to get rowdy on the concert dancefloor. Their new EP is no different. Here you’ll find some infectious choruses that will undoubtedly have you dancing the next time you see them live.

2. “Sunsets for Somebody Else” by Jack Johnson

Coming on the heels of his latest single, this week marks the release of the second song from Jack Johnson in the lead-up to his new album dropping in early September. As the title indicates, the sounds here are reminiscent of a sunset serenade on the beach, the atmosphere Johnson has always been a master of encapsulating.

3. “Together” by Miner

After the early explosive success from their first EP release in 2013, Miner has release two albums, putting their stamp on upbeat folk. As a fan of snap and clap percussion, this latest single strikes a resonant chord with listeners using creative percussion and playful vocal arrangements.

4. “London” by Josiah and the Bonnevilles

Originally just Josiah Leming, this American Idol veteran has joined forces with the Bonnevilles to bring a new force to reckon with in the indie scene. Josiah writes incredibly deep lyrics and maintains a voice full of raw emotion. The lo-fi quality of his recordings and raspy vocals will never cease to impress, especially on this new minute-long single that truly packs a punch.
