New Music from Foo Fighters, Beck, The Killers, and More
If you woke up and saw the list of new music released, you’d think it was just another day in 2004. Then you’d look at the calendar and realize it’s 2017 and your jaw would hit the floor. Here are new releases from bands we’ve known since the age of CDs and Livestrong bracelets.
1. Villians by Queens of the Stone Age
After a four year break, QOTSA is back with a vengeance. Still in touch with their edgy rock roots, lead vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme has crafted a new album of crunchy compositions, blistering riffs, and refreshingly simple vocals. Those familiar with Spoon, The Raconteurs, or Wolfmother will find something to enjoy here.
2. “Wonderful Wonderful” by The Killers
Even as “Mr. Brightside” endures on the UK Top 100 charts 13 years after its initial release, Brandon Flowers and Co. are still in the studio working on new material. As the third single in the run up to their new album, “Wonderful Wonderful” sheds light on a contemporary version of The Killers we haven’t seen before. So absorb this intense and atmospheric beat as the anticipation grows for the new album in September.
3. “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” by Foo Fighters
Dave Grohl, the man, the myth, the legend. Other than making headlines with an awe-inspiring Rick Astley collaboration, the veteran rock group is releasing a new cosmically themed album next month. Dave’s vocals and guitar remain a focal point as the Foo Fighters prove time and again their songwriting chops are still in full force.
4. “Dear Life” by Beck
Beck has always been somewhat of a wildcard when it comes to new music. From the catchy, acoustic-driven “Girl” to the massively produced “Wow,” we are always left guessing what’s coming next. With this first upbeat single for his upcoming October release piano takes center stage. While it appears his material isn’t taking and wild left turns genre-wise, only time will tell.
