6 STL Concerts to See in September

September is often dubbed the busiest month in the STL music scene, with artists from all over the world converging for Loufest. In addition, there happens to be a diverse array of artists that will be in town throughout the month. Make sure to choose wisely, there are several acts you do not want to miss.

1. Loufest - Forest Park on September 9-10 (Tickets)

This year’s lineup for STL’s biggest music festival is chock full of must-see acts, some of which have never been to our city before. Whether you’re into hip hop, folk music, or the 80’s, there is something for you here. The bigger names this year include Weezer, Snoop Dogg, and Run the Jewels. Some sleeper hits including Hippo Campus, Mondo Cozmo, and Mvstermind will also be present, so make sure to plan accordingly.

2. Father John Misty - Peabody Opera House on September 22nd (Tickets)

There are artists out there who consider live concerts an opportunity to play music for their fans, and then there are artists who take this opportunity to create an unforgettable experience. Father John Misty is one of those acts who always goes above and beyond to leave audiences dumbfounded at the creativity and sheer energy on display. Now is your chance to experience Father John in all his glory at Scottrade later this month.

3. Broken Social Scene with Frightened Rabbit - The Pageant on September 24th (Tickets)

Broken Social Scene is back with a brand new album after a 7-year hiatus, and Frightened Rabbit is along for the ride. With BSS, a baroque pop group that has had up to 19 members at a time, combined with Frightened Rabbit, one of the best indie-folk heartbreak bands today, this is a concert for every type of music lover.

4. Two Door Cinema Club and Circa Waves - The Pageant on September 26th (Tickets)

Two Door Cinema Club is one of those household indie names that has been in our minds since their first album 2010. Now they’re touring for their newest album, which has its fair share of brand new hits that’ll have you dancing in no time. Add Circa Waves, a fast paced rock outfit to get you pumped, and you have the perfect combo for a wonderful concert outing.

5. Frankie Cosmos - Off Broadway on September 26th (Tickets)

One of the pioneers of the lo-fi indie movement, Frankie has a repertoire full of quaint melodies that anyone can latch onto. If you’re looking for a chill evening with an artist who can touch the heart of any listener, this is the perfect concert for you.

6. Jaymes Young - Firebird on September 29th (Tickets)

Clean, viby, and resonant. Jaymes Young knows how to compose catchy beats that pull you in and hold you until the very last note. Especially in one of STL’s more intimate venues, this show is destined to impress and get your heart racing for more.
