5 STL Concerts You Need To See In May
The beginning of summer this year also happens to be filled to the brim with a diverse set of some of the best acts out there to see live. Do yourself a favor and see AT LEAST one of these bands this month. You will not regret it.
1. The Family Crest w/ Family and Friends - Blue Hill on May 4th (Tickets)
If you choose one concert to venture into this May, let it be to see these two bands in one of the most unique venues in town. Not only do both acts perform with the energy of 5 bands combined, but their music will bring you joy and give you hope for a better world. Not to mention this concert is in the historic Blueberry Hill Duck Room, which has been graced by Chuck Berry and countless other high profile hometown heroes.
2. Sorority Noise - The Firebird on May 10th (Tickets)
For all of you punk-heads out there, you can’t go wrong with these Connecticut rockers. With brutally honest lyrics, a badass guitarist, and some heart-pounding songs that will leave your jaw on the floor, this band will not disappoint. Head to the Firebird for an insanely energetic, reflective, hectic good time.
3. Margaret Glaspy - Blueberry Hill Duck Room on May 18th (Tickets)
Widely hailed as one of the biggest rising acts of 2016, Margaret Glaspy returns to STL wielding one of the most unique and flooring voices in the music scene today. Her guitar work is raw and always spot on, and her vocal prowess is just as stunning every time. This will be my third time seeing her live, and definitely not the last.
4. The Sword - The Ready Room on May 23rd (Tickets)
Are you prepared to get your socks blown off? The Sword is one of those bands that toes the line between metal and hard-rock. This means there is something here for anyone that’s ready to mosh or jump up and down in pure excitement. This is destined to be a rocking good time and gives you an excuse to visit one of the best venues in town.
5. Jamestown Revival - Old Rock House on May 9th (Tickets)
Venturing away from the heavy side of things, Jamestown Revival is a safe bet for some good old country rock. Their folksy style accented with acoustic guitars and consistent harmonies make for a hollerin’ good time. This is the feel-good concert of the season, so make sure to take the trip if you want to check out a new venue with some tunes to lift your soul.
